Hysterectomy is commonly done on over 600,000 American women each year. Studies by the Hysterectomy Education Resources and Services Foundation (HERS) have shown that most, up to 98%, of these surgeries are unnecessary.
After a hysterectomy many women experience a profound loss of stamina, sex drive and sexual response. Also, women experience incontinence, bowel problems, diminished blood flow throughout the body, bone and joint pain, memory loss and depression. Too few doctors warn their patients about these side effects, noted by most women who have had the procedure. Side effects tend to be more severe if the ovaries were removed with the uterus.
Hysterectomy may be necessary in severe cases of infection or where cancer is found. But, in most cases, chiropractic care will diminish many gynecological problems, alleviating the need for surgery.
